Since 1890, four generations of the Gaudron family have produced wine in Vernou-sur-Brenne, in the Vouvray appellation along the banks of the Loire river. About two thirds of the vines are over 30 years of age and are all of the Chenin Blanc variety, also known in the region as Pineau de la Loire. The cellar under the winery dates back to the 13th century and consists of 1000 metres of galleries carved into the limestone clay rock (tuffeau) so closely associated with this region. Under the careful guidance of Gilles Gaudron, the winery produces dry, semi-dry and fruity wines, depending on the conditions of vintage, as well as the traditional sparkling Vouvray.
