Barrel-aged, half-dry fortified white made from a traditional blend of white Port grapes grown on schist soils. The Portuguese version of Amontillado. 20% vol.
Appellation: Oporto
Grape Variety: Malvasia, Rabigato & Códega
Winemaking: Macerated on its skins before fermentation, which was halted by the addition of grape brandy (77%). Aged for at least ten years in large oak barrels in Vila Nova.
Tasting Notes: Golden color. Attractive aroma of vanilla & spices, particulary nutmeg. Rich flavour, with a nice sweetness & fresh acidity. Ideal with deep-fried fish. Spanish dried jam or as an after dinner digestive. 69 gr./l. residual sugar. Open bottles of this style of Port are good for several weeks. Best enjoyed: during the next 10 years.
