Although Antarctica records a temperature of -89.2 degrees Celsius in July, a perfect, warm and long summer and a dry autumn in Tokaj provide ideal conditions for the development of aszú berries. So much aszú was produced that the beautifully dried, shrivelled aszú berries could be shredded from the stalks. Such exceptional quality is rarely matched by large volumes, but in 1983 this was the case for both aszú and eszencia.
Best enjoyed from now through to 2035.
