Italia / Piamonte
Full-bodied dry red made from vineyards growing in the hills around Verduno, in the Barolo district of the Piedmont. 15% vol.
Grape Variety: 100% Barbera
Ageing: Eighteen months of ageing in Slovenian casks and French oak barrels help make this Barbera much smoother than most in its class.
Awards: Wine Advocate: 93+ points
Tasting Notes: Deep cherry red. Aroma of ripe plums, cherries and toasted oak. A highly-concentrated full-flavored wine, with fresh acidity and noteworthy tannins. Highly recommended, but still very young. Best enjoyed: 2021 to 2027
Presentation: Cardboard box of 6 bottles.
Availability: Limited. Only 1,170 cases produced.
Monica Larner (Wine Advocate): Opening to dark fruit with teriyaki beef and clove, this wine shows depth, intensity and purity. Thanks to those bright, high-toned aromas, this wine is actually closer to Nebbiolo than it is to Barbera. There are bright aromas, some firm tannins and bright acidity. The finish is smooth and fine with crushed aspirin and talc powder.
